in the course of an experimental workshop in the urban area of hamburg's diverse and multicultural district wilhelmsburg, with special focus on the central vering canal, we developed a complex installation. analogous to the immersion into the local culture, we literally dived into the canal, understanding it as a microcosm of the overwater society. as part of our underwater experiments we discovered a rotten chest of drawers/lectern and were fascinated by its unusual appearance. it neither belonged to the human world, nor the underwater world of fish and mussels — and most importantly: why did this distinction matter to us?
